Interview with Laurie McKenzie: The delivery transformation process at TD Bank

During the fin:CODE USA we had a chat with Laurie Mckenzie, AVP – DevOps Delivery Transformation at TD Bank. She gives us a little insight into the delivery transformation process at TD Bank. Which challenges TD Bank had to overcome and which are still pending.

About Laurie Mckenzie, AVP - DevOps Delivery Transformation, TD Bank

Laurie McKenzie, Associate Vice President, Hosting Strategy, is responsible for leading the DevOps and Continuous Testing pillars, in a multi-year Delivery Transformation Program, at TD Bank. Since joining TD Bank in 2001, Laurie started as a junior developer and has progressed in her career, working on several highly visible Bank Acquisitions and Data Conversion Programs,  including Bank North, Commerce Ban and Aeroplan & MBNA Credit Cards. Over the past year in her new role, Laurie has become the DevOps Change Agent and Evangelist, introducing a new way of delivering software and encouraging new behaviors to support the DevOps culture, across the organization. Laurie has always been a strong advocate of the Women in Leadership and is currently on the core committee and has a supportive role on the Band 6-8 sub-committee. Laurie is currently facilitating her 4th Taking the Stage course, which is a series created by a Toronto based company called The Humphrey Group, that develops women leaders and shows women how to become comfortable in the spotlight; unlock the power of their voice; create strong scripts; and achieve a dynamic presence. More recently, Laurie spoke to grade 6 & 7 girls at Fanshawe College, about the value of learning to code and a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Laurie earned her bachelor’s Honours degree in Biological Sciences from Windsor University and completed her Information Technology Diploma at DeVry Institute of Technology.
